The Morning After

When I leave in the morning
I don't want any water to touch my skin

While in my car and later, in my apartment,
your scent stays with me.

Usually I can't be clean enough
I stop at steel wool but shower
as frequently as I am able.

But not with you.
Not after you.
Not until I know I will see you again.

If cleanliness is godliness then let me be a sinner
or the devil himself
as long as it means that i can still feel your oils on my skin,
that I can smell and taste your sweat the morning after

The water doesn't deserve to touch you
Then again, neither do i.
